Itinerary

Day 1 ( Sep 16 ) – Benvenuti in Italia - Arrival Rome and where you’ll be driven by coach to the medieval city of Florence which will be home for the next days.

After checking in at your hotel (Baglioni Hotel or similar), the balance of the day will be at leisure. Take the opportunity to walk around the city and have a quick glimpse to what you are about to experience.

Tonight, you’ll get to meet your everyone in the group over a welcome cocktail and Dinner at the hotel.

Day 2 (Sep 17) – Full day excursion to Florence

Today after breakfast you’ll meet your guide and start your exploration with a walking tour of Florence as well as visit its major museums and sites. You’ll have a chance to stand right in front of some of the most iconic works of art by artists such as Michelangelo, Botticelli, and Leonardo da Vinci. You’ll also have a chance to visit the historic markets where for centuries local inhabitants do, their daily shopping. Florence is known for its craftwork as well as art, and therefore leaving without either a wonderfully made item of leather or even handmade paper or box (just to name two) it will be almost impossible. At night you’ll enjoy a superb dinner at a Michelin Star Restaurant such as “Enoteca Pinchiorri” (or similar)

Day 3 (Sep 18)– Today you’ll head to Lucca, renowned for its oval–shaped square and its perfectly preserved medieval walls. The city is known as the City of Art, and it’s preserved Renaissance center. Visit and dinner at la Fattoria del Poggio where the meal will be prepared with local produce and served with their own wine production.

Overnight Florence.

 

Day 4 (Sep 19)– After breakfast, we’ll head for a full day excursion to the wonderful town of Siena known for its shell shaped central square “Piazza del Campo” and for its pristine renaissance city center standing on top of hill overlooking the beautiful Tuscan hills. In Siena you’ll have a chance to stop at Nannini’s place (one of the most celebrated local Food manufacturers) where you’ll taste the real Sienese sweet treats Panforte, Panpepato and Ricciarelli dating all the way back to the Renaissance.

After your visit to Siena, you’ll head to your cooking class at Cucina Giuseppina where you’ll learn how to prepare real Tuscan dishes and you’ll have a chance to taste the fruit of your work during the following dinner.

Day 5  (Sep 20)– Full Day Chianti Area Excursion

The time has now arrived for you to visit the beautiful Chianti countryside along with its villages. You’ll visit a number of wineries and stop in the charming town of Greve in Chianti where you’ll visit the local historical Butcher Shop Falorni who will walk you through some of the region’s great cold cuts and cured meats, all produced in the area.

Overnight Florence.

             

Day 6 (Sep 21)– Transfer to your next home in Italy, Torre del Nera in the region of Umbria. This unique hotel is set in the small village of Scheggino in the heart of a beautiful Valley surrounded by hamlets and medieval villages.

We’ll make sure that you have the chance to visit Valnerina its medieval villages, and the dramatic Marmore Waterfalls.

Overnight Umbria     

 

Day 7 (Sep 22)– Today after breakfast you are going to experience one of the best adventures that Umbria has to offer. The region is known among many things for its precious truffles.  You’ll have the opportunity to spend a few hours with truffle hunters and their trusted dogs whose noses will guide you in your quest for these precious ‘gems”. Afterwards you’ll join a cooking class and enjoy a great meal highlighting the features of the truffles you just harvest. In the afternoon you’ll visit the magical medieval village of Narni along with its breathtaking views.

Overnight Umbria

 

Day 8 (Sep 23)– In the morning you’ll visit the capital of Umbria, Perugia, with its rich history, art, and architecture. In the afternoon you’ll learn about the centuries old tradition of pottery making in the charming town of Deruta. If something interests you, most of the shops will gladly ship what you purchase back to the States.  You’ll end your day visiting the village of Spoleto, home to a vibrant community of international artists making it a one-of-a-kind medieval village with the heart of a great multicultural city.

Overnight Umbria

 

Day 9 (Sep 24)– Today after breakfast, you’ll check out of your hotel in Umbria and depart for Rome, the eternal city. You’ll stay at the Hotel Dell’Orologio (or similar) The rest of the day will be available to you to explore the city of Rome, capping your day with a farewell dinner.
